Pastor Michael L. Silver

Rev. Michael L. Silver is a native of Enfield, North Carolina. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1963. In August 1990, he received an Industrial Management Certificate from Thomas Nelson Community College. At an early age, he confessed Christ and accepted him as his personal Savior at Zion Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia.

In September 1979, with determination to serve God and be a disciple of Jesus Christ, he joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Wilbur R Jones. He faithfully served on the Usher Board, W.R. Jones Male Chorus, Inspirational Choir, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Church Program Committee, taught two years at MSBC's Christian Education Conference, Assistant Superintendent, and as Church Treasurer for 18 years. He was ordained a deacon on February 1, 1981 and served untiringly until he was called into the Gospel Ministry in October 1999. He was licensed to preach the Gospel on March 25, 2001 by Pastor Wilbur R. Jones.

As an Associate Minister, he opened prayer and praise service on Thursdays, assisted the pastor in teaching the adult class on Thursday, assisted in preparation for revivals, was Director of the New Member's Class, and seized every opportunity to preach the Gospel to all.

Rev. Silver was ordained on April 27, 2003 and is now Pastor of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. His Biblical pursuits include: August 2001, Diploma in Biblical Studies and Certificates in Biblical Counseling, the book of John, Sunday School Teaching and Hermeneutics from Liberty Home Bible Institute of Lynchburg Virginia. June 10, 2005, Bachelor of Theology, Almeda University with a major in biblical studies. He is now pursuing his master degree in biblical studies.

Rev. Silver is a member of the Ministers Coalition of Hampton and Vicinity, Aberdeen Garden Historic Civic Association, Inc. and the Peninsula Baptist Pastors' Council.

He was employed by Northrop Grumman Newport News as a Logistic Supervisor where he worked for 43 years. He retired from Northrop Grumman on April 30, 2007. He is married to Jewel M. Silver and they have one daughter, Regina, two granddaughters: Tiffany and Tawana, and one great granddaughter: Jakyhia.

By God's grace, he is saved, sanctified and committed to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He Loves the Name of Jesus and gives God's name the praise. His motto is: "Let's Give God All The Praise."
