Pastor Christopher C. Carter
Pastor Christopher C. Carter is a native of Newport News, Virginia. He was reared in Hampton, Virginia where he was educated in the City of
Hampton Public School System. Pastor Carter is married to the former Anita R. Burley of Newport News, Virginia. They reside in Hampton, Virginia.
He graduated in May 2004 with an Associate Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Human Services from Thomas Nelson Community College.
Currently, he is continuing his education at Regent University where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.
Pastor Carter was called into the Gospel Ministry in 1993. He served as an Associate Minister at First Morning Star Baptist Church in Bena, Virginia.
Pastor Carter has been the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church for 10 years. Under his dynamic leadership, New Hope Baptist Church has grown spiritually and numerically.
On February 9, 2002, land was dedicated on Big Bethel Road under the vision that God gave Pastor Carter.
The New Hope Baptist Church Family launched out to build a new edifice that would bring glory and honor
to our Lord and Savior as well as accommodate the growing church. On May 8, 2004, the church had the
groundbreaking ceremony for the new edifice. The first service was held in the new church on July 30, 2006.
In June 1997, Pastor Carter received the Pastor of the Month award from Murray's Steaks, Inc. for his
leadership and service to the community. In 1998, the Hampton City Council appointed him to the City of
Hampton Parking Authority. For his outstanding leadership in the ministry and to the community, Pastor Carter
received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from the Norfolk Seminary and College in April 2002.
